Bangkok to Butterworth

As usual I arrive fart to early for the train.
Bangkok's Hua Lamphong Station

My train, destination Butterworth, Malaysia. Only a short 23 hour hop

I have now been on sleeper trains in Belarus, Russia, Mongolia, China, Vietnam, India and Thailand and this one was my best experience yet. It has the most sensible design. The most privacy, the comfiest beds andthe best food. And price wise it was cheaper than India

Everyone has to get off the train at the border to get stamped out of Thailand and into Malaysia. There is also a very quick engine change.

A hilarious sign at the border. It's a bit fuzzy but worth reading.

Then once in Butterworth it is a short ferry ride to George Town, Malaysia.
