We pick our little camper van from Jucy. It is pretty compact and has a kitchen in the boot.
I put Owen in charge of planning the route and although he has a list of places he wants to see we don't really have a schedule. So armed with an atlas and lonely planet we head out west along the 73 to Arthurs Pass National park.

We hit the west coast and head south through Hokitika, and then onto our first camping spot at Okarito. Owen cooks up a chilli and and we settle into our first night in the van.
