Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park and Paradise Cave

Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park has over 300 caves and grottos in the limestone mountains. The area is heavily controlled as the mountainous area have not been cleared of land mines.

On the tour I took the focus was on the importance of this area in the American war with the main supply road, the Ho Chi Minh Trail, which also ran trough Laos and Cambodia to supply the VC in the south. This mountains was heavily bombed so the rocks would fall onto the toad below.
The River of Blood and Diesel
An underground river feeds this river and you can see the water bubbling from below. The water level in the river was too high for swimming which was such as shame as it was so hot.
We were told that this road was built as an air strip but only only plane ever took off from it. However that plane did successfully bomb an American ship.
Thien Duong (Paradise) Cave
Only discovered in 2005 and 31km long, I only walked 1km into it.
