I couldn't stand up in the tonnals as they are designed doe Vietnamese sized people. Even so you could see how cramped and clostraphobic they are. The villages would sleep in the tunnels in the day and come out at night. By the end of the war the village above had been destroyed but it was rebuilt in the following years.
